ONLINE RECORDING ELECTRONICS VOTING MACHINE (“EVM”)
ONLINE RECORDING ELECTRONICS VOTING MACHINE (“EVM”) can be directly connected to the internet (without any additional host to the computer). This is an attempt to save the democracy from anti-social activities such as bogus voting and booth capativations . A microcontrollers manages the EVM and communicates with the web server though a serial communication . this vote is directly transmitted and stored in the database of the Election commission officer sittings right on his seat.
In the present electronics voting machine the polled votes are stored in the machine itself and the machine is taken to the separate center and counted . High protection is needed when the transferred to another place . Possibility for data loss prevails , during such circumstances re-election has to be held for the whole constituency which is costly process and disappoints the people . Requires a period of two days to count and announces the results.
In the initiatory ONLINE RECORDING ELECRONICS VOTING MACHINE the poled votes are sent directly to the Election commission [monitoring unit] . Each constituency might have maximum of two monitoring units where the online recording of the votes can be viewed . Even the officers will not able to trace the vote polled , so it 100% confidential . There is a peak security with no possibilities of mal practices . separate counting process is not
required as the recording is done as stack enabling immediate results . when the rowdies capture polling booth, a signal is intimated and the recording of the respective EVM can be stopped and the votes so far recorded can be saved and the immediate recovery of the booths is possible with the help of police force . This EVM works on the battery and no direct current connections is given to the EVM.So it is reliable during powers switch offs and no possiblity for electric shocks .In future iris and finger prints detections can be implemented for checking the authentications of voters .Touch screen display can be used to cosset the voters A head phone and the micro phone set can provided for improved accessibility physically challenged This mini project will be implemented using an a 8051 microcontrollers , a LCD screen , a key pad and pc having internet connections [ with in a proximity of 50 m]. on the software side front end will be created using VB and back end will be by DB2 or EXCEL . this will be first pure EVM as both casting and counting is done electronically . this is immediate measure to strengthen our democracy as politics has turned out to be sordid business.
